Peggy A. Wyatt - Trauma Therapist
Peggy earned a Master’s of Science degree in Marriage, Family and Child Counseling from California Lutheran University, and is certified in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and EMDR Disorganized Attachment and Shame Protocols. Peggy studied under Dr. Don Dorsey, a leading EMDR clinician and close collaborator of Francine Shapiro, Ph.D., founder and developer of EMDR. Peggy also incorporates the Trauma Resiliency Model (TRM), an integrative mind-body approach that focuses on the biological basis of trauma and the reflexive, defensive ways the body responds to threat and fear which stabilizes a client’s nervous system, reduces symptoms of trauma and returns the body and mind back to balance.

Peggy has an extensive clinical background using these trauma modalities alongside a psychodynamic approach. She has developed a keen skill at helping women suffering from unresolved physical, sexual and psychological childhood abuse and neglect, disorganized attachment failures, chronic and complex Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and major depressive and anxiety disorders. Peggy also has a background in substance abuse, personality disorders, low self-esteem, grief and loss, and dysfunctional, alcoholic and/or chaotic family and relationship issues.

Interestingly, prior to her current profession, Peggy spent over 18 years as a Certified Paralegal working with attorneys and their clients on major personal injury, traumatic brain injury and complex environmental contamination litigation matters. She understands the stress clients experience when undergoing legal matters. Peggy is in private practice in Malibu and Westlake Village, is a member of EMDRIA (EMDR International Association), the California Association of Marriage & Family Therapists (CAMFT) and its local chapters in the San Fernando Valley (SFVCAMFT) and Ventura County (VC-CAMFT).
